Known as a highly resilient platform for contractual money, Ergo is designed for developing decentralized applications with the main focus of providing an efficient, secure and easy way to implement financial contracts. To achieve this goal, Ergo includes various technical and economic improvements to existing blockchain solutions. Still, Ergo is a conservative Proof-of-Work blockchain with very understandable security. Ergo native token has limited supply, thus it is good digital gold (like Bitcoin).

What are top priorities right now for Ergo core developers?
A2： 让尔格在更多的交易所上市。让尔格币被更多第三方钱包支持。为尔格用户们打造一个更加便捷的用户界面及内置钱包。尔格目前虽然有原生钱包，但现在它的用户友好程度不是很高，所以我们正在完善用户界面。另外，大家可以使用Magnum钱包，它的用户友好程度非常高。同时，我们还正在尽力争取与Trezor 和/或者Ledger Nano 的对接。如果对接成功我们会及时发布公告。
Getting ERG listed on more exchanges. Getting ERG integrated with more 3rd party Wallets. Building a more convenient user interface with the Ergo client and built in wallet.
Ergo native wallet is currently not very user friendly so we are working on UI. Also, there is Magnum wallet which is very user friendly. Also we hope to get wallet integration done for Trezor and/or Ledger Nano as soon as possible. Will announce when happens.

Ergo’s native token is called ERG. Ergo has a strictly limited supply, an 8‐year emission schedule and a declining rate of emission over these 8 years. All tokens are mined through an original Asic and Pool‐resistant Proof‐of‐Work (“PoW”) algorithm called Autolykos. Therefore, there are 0 Ergs in existence at launch of mainnet as there was no ICO nor pre‐mine. At the end of 8 years, the final Erg supply will be 97,739,925 Ergs. There will be no additional inflation and the Erg monetary base will remain fixed.

Ergo has a storage rent component: if an output remains in the state for 4years without being moved, a miner may charge a small fee for every byte kept in the state of the blockchain. This idea, which is similar to regular cloud storage services, was only proposed quite recently for cryptocurrencies. The design space of programming languages is very broad ranging from general-purpose languages like C, Java, Python up to specialized languages like SQL, HTML, CSS, however, none of them was designed for the Contractual Money application.
ErgoScript was designed to achieve several properties. It only contains deterministic operations to maintain consensus in the network. To prevent possible spam attacks ErgoScript supports ahead-of-time cost estimation, excluding a wide range of operations like possibly infinite loops. But even keeping all these limitations in mind, ErgoScript is expressive enough to implement complex smart contracts, including Turing-complete smart contracts but in a secure manner.

Ethereum has been proven insecure with many hacks and high profile failures going back to the Dao in 2016. Bitcoin while secure has a scripting language with limited functionality. With Ergo, we believe its possible to do roughly 95% or more of the applications you can do on Ethereum due to Ergo scripts expansive functionality but in a manner AT LEAST as secure and decentralized as Bitcoin but hopefully more so.

Ergo is based on Autolykos PoW puzzle, that is the first PoW puzzle that is memory-hard and pool-resistant. This means that you need a configured Ergo node and GPU with at least 7 Gb of memory. Refer to Ergo website FAQ Discover | Ergo Platform 4th question “How to mine Ergo?” We estimate that currently there are more than 50,000 high end GPUs mining Ergo.

A: No, they don’t. Ergo uses an innovative new method of authenticated state so miners can verify transactions without storing the blockchain. However, various parties including miners are likely to store the blockchain in some number for 1) alturistic reasons; 2) for blockchain analysis reasons; 3) possibly some smart contracts may need to refer to data.

At mainnet launch and now, Ergo’s block size is limited at 524 KB. However, in Ergo, parameters like block size can be changed on-the-fly via voting of miners. At the beginning of each 1024-block voting epoch, a miner proposes changes of up to 2 parameters (such as an increase of block size and a decrease of storage fee factor). During the rest epoch, miners vote to approve or reject the changes. If a majority of votes within the epoch support the change, the new values are written into the extension section of the first block of the next epoch, and the network starts using the updated values for block mining and validation.

To fund development, Ergo has in place a Treasury which will receive 4.43% of the Ergs released during emission. It should be noted that the amount of Ergs going to the Treasury comprise a total of only 4,330,791.5, or 4.43% of the total monetary base, and is completed in just 2.5 years. This compares with ZCash’s Treasury, which was 10% of the ZCash total monetary base and 20% of all issued ZCash coins during the first 4 years.
